Address the Topic: WHAT QUALITY MEANS TODAY |
 |
The winter 2005 issue of the prestigious
MIT Sloan Management Review includes an article representing the views of
General Systems Company's founders and Executive Management team concerning
the subject of Quality in today's world. The article stresses that, "Leadership
and management innovation must be the leading drivers of a comprehensive
ethos of excellence."
The MIT Sloan article traces the evolution of quality from "Meeting
technical specifications in products and services"in companies such
as General Electric to today's highly competitive worldwide marketplace
which has created greater customer demand for quality than ever before.
The article goes on to explain that continuous product and service innovation
is required to meet today's heightened customer value expectations. It is
suggested that a culture of systematic management innovation -- a way for
an organization to build what we call its "management capital"--
the enterprise-wide discipline needed to recognize, develop, deploy and
measure the capacity and effectiveness of the company's total resources
to accelerate profitable growth.
